Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicine practice that integrated many anatomical and pathological notions with a scientific method of applying and manipulating thin, solid needles that are inserted into the skin stimulating pressure points mapped out on the body that corrects imbalances in the flow of circulation channels know as meridians and applied by a skilled doctor. Although this practice is considered alternative medicine in the Western world, it is commonly practiced throughout East Asia and China and estimated use of 40 % of all health car delivered in Asia. Current Scientific research supports acupuncture’s efficiency in the relief of certain types of pain. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), UK’s National Health Services and the World Health Organizations have endorsed the use of acupuncture for certain conditions.
